It’s only Week 2 of the Men’s Major League of Curling, but already the ranks of the unbeaten have been trimmed to five. Three more teams fell by the wayside on Wednesday night, joining three others at 1-1.

Three more teams fell by the wayside on Wednesday night, joining three others at 1-1. Five teams remain perfect at 2-0, including defending champion Jeff Currie, who handed Gary Weiss his first loss of the season, edging the Thunder Bay skip 6-4.

Art Lappalainan took out Kurtis Byrd 8-5,Trevor Bonot knocked off former champ Joe Scharf 9-7, Bryan Burgess scored one in the eighth to topple Jeff MacDonald 8-7 and Mike Assad swept past Krista McCarville 6-5, needing an extra end to do so.

Other winners Wednesday included Brennan Wark and Ashley Kallos, who routed former world champion Al Hackner’s rink 6-2.
