Dryden’s Noseworthy named SIJHL player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. –
The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Nic Noseworthy of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs has been named it Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Nov. 20.

In three road games over the weekend, Nosewothy had points in each of them, helping the GM Ice Dogs record a trio of victories.

Having spent time playing both defence and at forward for Dryden so far this season, the 20-year-old from Cochrane, Alta., began his efforts by dishing out an assist in a narrow 3-2 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in snowy Hoyt Lakes on Friday.

Saturday night he scored the game-tying goal just before time expired late in the third period to force overtime and eventually a shootout where the GM Ice Dogs would prevail 5-4 over the Thief River Falls Norskies at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Noseworthy then capped off his weekend with another tally and a helper in his club’s 6-2 decision over the Norskies Sunday.

On the season he now has 13 points in 17 games, including six markers, for Dryden.

Also earning consideration for Play It Again Sports player of the week honours were the following:

Nathaniel Dupuis, (G) Thunder Bay North Stars; Logan Froberg, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers and Connor Bowey, (D) Thief River Falls Norskies.

Note: The English River Miners and Fort Frances Lakers did not play last week, thus did not have a nominee for the award.
