The St. Ignatius Falcons roared back Friday from a nine-point, first-quarter deficit and held the lead through three quarters.

But the Thunder Bay squad couldn’t hang on, falling 49-42 to St. Michael and were eliminated from the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletics Association’s “AA” provincial senior girls basketball championship in Sault Ste. Marie.

Katelyn Andrea scored 18 in a losing cause, with Cassandra Souleas netting 11. Bridget O’Reilly had 18 for St. Michael, who will take on No. 1 Gen. Amherst in Saturday’s championship semifinal.

St. Ignatius, which opened with an 83-8 win over Courtice, finished 2-1.
