Falcons remain unbeaten

The St. Ignatius Falcons are off to a hot start in senior girls high school basketball. The Falcons rode a dozen points from MeganYuan, easily getting past Churchill 31-19 on Thursday to improve to 2-0.

The Falcons rode a dozen points from MeganYuan, easily getting past Churchill 31-19 on Thursday to improve to 2-0. Laura Holten and Steph Drost scored six apiece in a losing cause.

Not to be outdone, Hammarskjold blasted Westgate 44-8 to also improve to 2-0. The Vikings have outscored their opponents 80-19 in two games.

On the junior girls court, the Vikings were just as ruthless, running away from Westgate 50-12. Shannon McKirtrick led the way with 13 points for 2-0 Hammarskjold. Westgate fell to 0-2.

Elsewhere Katelyn Parabocchia netted eight points as Superior Collegiate downed St. Patrick 31-24.

In senior boys volleyball play St. Patrick swept Superior , Westgate beat Hammarskjold and St. Ignatius rolled past Churchill by identical 3-0 scores.

On the junior boys side, St. Patrick swept Superior, while Churchill edged St. Ignatius 2-1 and Hammarskjold beat Westgate 2-1.

In the high school boys golf playoff quarterfinals, St. Ignatius beat La Verendrye by default and will take on Hammarskjold in the next round. The third-seed Vikings swept St. Patrick 3-0.
