The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers forward Jordan Christianson has been named the Pizza Hut player of the week for the time frame wrapping up Dec. 23.

In three games last week, the 20-year-old native of International Falls, Minn., racked up nine points by tallying twice and setting up seven others.

Christianson opened up his award-winning effort by picking up an assist in a setback this past Tuesday to the red-hot and league-leading Minnesota Wilderness, winners of 17 games in succession.

From there he went on to really shine at the SIJHL Showcase staged over the weekend in Duluth.

The Lakers standout began by scoring once and dishing out to helpers in a 7-1 triumph over the Thunder Bay North Stars on Saturday. He then wrapped up his offensive outburst by notching another marker and doling out four assists in a 10-3 romp over the Clydesdales of Duluth Sunday.

On the season Christianson is third in the SIJHL in assists with 26 and sixth overall in points with 38. His club is also 8-3 in games this season in which he scores at least one goal.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Mike Dietrich, (F) Minnesota Wilderness; Trevor Hoth, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Paul Thompson, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Mathias Gardiman, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars and Austin Snedden (F) Duluth Clydesdales.
