Thomas Frazee may be seventh in the OUA in scoring, but it didn’t stop the Lakehead Thunderwolves from kicking their star forward off the team.
Athletic director Tom Warden said it was a move that simply had to be made.
“We feel that this decision is in the best interest of our hockey team,” Warden said in a release. “We wish Thomas well in his future endeavours.”
Frazee led the Wolves with 22 first-half points, on seven goals and seven assists, but repeated on-ice disciplinary lapses cost his team, including a game misconduct for slashing a defenceless Windsor player on his knees late last month. Frazee was facing an OUA-mandated suspension for that infraction, and had 41 penalty minutes in 16 games.
The 22-year-old played for five junior teams in six Western Hockey League seasons, and spent a portion of 2011-12 with the ECHL’s Bakersfield Condors before joining Lakehead after Christmas of last year.
He had nine goals and 22 assists in 28 career OUA contests.
