Keith Grondin played the role of a post-Christmas Grinch against the defending national champion McGill Redmen on Saturday night.

The sophomore Lakehead Thunderwolves forward scored the winning goal at 13:23 of the third on a beautiful back-door feed from defenceman Mitch Fillman, who returned to the LU lineup for the first time in months.

Adam Sergerie and Trevor Gamache netted Lakehead’s other goals in the non-conference contest, the former tallying at 7:31 of the first, the latter at 5:30 of the second, 27 seconds after McGill’s Justin Ducharme had tied the score 1-1.

Max La Sieur tied it again at 18:41 of the middle stanza, beating Wolves goalie Alex Dupuis on a penalty shot.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday night at Fort William Gardens.
