Thunder Bay’s Justin Gvora was a one-man wrecking crew.
Too bad for the Lakehead Thunderwolves his destructive ways were aimed at them.
Gvora scored once and added two assists, including a helper on Patrick Campbell’s OT winner, propelling the Gryphons to a 3-2 home-ice win on Saturday night.
Andrew Merrett opened the scoring for the hosts, beating Alex Dupuis at 14:15 of the first. Ryan Magill evened the score midway through the second, with Victor Anilane putting the Wolves on top with three-and-a-half minutes to play in the middle stanza.
Gvora tied the score at 12:49 of the third.
Lakehead (14-8-2) is alone in third in the OUA West, one point up on Waterloo. The Gryphons (12-10-2) are four points back. Lakehead trails Laurier by three points, with a game in hand.
