Hutton's strong play may win him No. 1 job in St. Louis

Shutting out the Sharks has given Blues coach Ken Hitchcock pause for thought about his goaltending situation.

ST. LOUIS -- Carter Hutton may have earned the No. 1 goalie spot in St. Louis after the Blues blanked the San Jose Sharks 4-0 on Saturday, the fifth shutout of Hutton's career.

"Obviously that's the cherry on top," Hutton said on the team's website. "My last games have been good. I feel solid. It was a great team effort."

St. Louis Ken Hitchcock in a recent press conference said he was very happy with Hutton's latest string of wins and will continue to ride the hot goaltender. He'll get the start again Tuesday night against the Ottawa Senators.

Should Hutton take over No. 1 duties from Jake Allen and Matt Murray all but anointed No.1  in Pittsburgh – could local hockey fans be treated to a Thunder Bay goaltender showdown?

If the playoffs started today -- both teams would be in and could theoretically meet in the Stanley Cup final. Both teams are third in their respective divisions.
