Draw 3 is in the books in Nipigon and four-time defending champion Brad Jacob continued his winning ways.
The Sault Ste. Marie skip on Thursday morning won for the third time in three outings at the Northern Ontario men’s curling championship, dropping Thunder Bay’s Bryan Burgess 7-2 in a game that only lasted seven ends.
Jacobs is one of two undefeated teams left at the nine-team event.
Al Hackner, who won his opener, fell from the ranks of the undefeated in his second outing, falling 8-4 to previously winless Mike Jakubo (1-2).
In other morning action Sudbury’s Robbie Gordon fell 7-5 to New Liskeard’s Matt Dumontelle, while Thunder Bay’s Jeff Currie doubled up North Bay’s Jordan Chandler 10-5.
Currie improved to 2-1 while Chandler dropped to 0-3.
Thunder Bay’s Trevor Bonot (2-0) had a bye. He’ll take on Hackner in the afternoon draw. Other matches include Currie against Gordon, Dumontelle versus Jakubo and Burgess tangling with Currie in an all-Thunder Bay battle.
