LU erupts in fourth quarter to beat Ottawa by three

The true test comes Saturday night. Not that Friday’s match against Ottawa on the Gee-Gees home court didn’t give the Lakehead Thunderwolves all they could handle in OUA men’s basketball play.

Not that Friday’s match against Ottawa on the Gee-Gees home court didn’t give the Lakehead Thunderwolves all they could handle in OUA men’s basketball play.

The Wolves scored 21 fourth-quarter points, three more than they needed in defeating the Ottawa 68-65.

Jamie Searle had 20 points and five steals and Brendan King chipped in 17 and seven boards to lead the way for Lakehead (6-1), who stretched their winning streak to six games and look to match last year’s pre-Christmas 7-1 mark on Saturday against unbeaten Carleton.

Warren Ward led Ottawa with 18 points.
