Malouin leaves Thunderwolves

The Lakehead Thunderwolves have parted company with defenceman Danick Malouin.

The Lakehead Thunderwolves have parted company with defenceman Danick Malouin.

A healthy scratch for most of the opening half of the 2012-13 season, the sophomore blue-liner was caught up in a numbers game that wasn’t going to get better for him in January with the return of defencemen Jay Gilbert and Mitch Fillman from the injured list.

Malouin informed team officials of his decision to leave after the first half ended.

The Granby, Que. native had one assist in six games this season. He had one assist in 27 OUA games a season ago.

The Wolves begin their second half on Friday at home against the Guelph Gryphons at Fort William Gardens.
