Mangini drives in first big league run

On Sunday he helped the Seattle Mariners play spoiler, driving in his first run in just his third big league contest, the sixth and final run in his team’s 6-2 win over the American League East-leading Tampa Bay Rays.

Magini, 24, singled to centre in the seventh inning, driving home Franklin Gutierrez. An inning earlier Mangini scored his first major league run, coming home on Josh Wilson’s three-run homer.

Mangini in now 4-for-12 since being called up by the Mariners.
