Matt Mangini was 0-for-1 on Day 2 of his major league career.

The former Thunder Bay Border Cat entered the Seattle Mariners game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night as a pinch hitter, taking over for shortstop Josh Wilson. Facing Seattle’s super saver Rafael Soriano at Tampa’s Tropicana Field, Mangini popped up.

Mangini is 1-for-5 in his brief major league career.

Tampa Bay won the game 5-3 and re-gained top spot in the American League East, when the Yankees lost 10-8 to Boston, New York’s third straight defeat.
