Dinkins sends game to OT with last-second shot, but Wolves can't sustain momentum and fall 82-76 on the road.

Lakehead's Bacarius Dinkins scored 24 points and added six rebounds in an 82-78 loss to the UNBC Timberwolves on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016 in Vancouver (supplied).

HAMILTON – Bacarius Dinkins dropped a jump shot with two seconds remaining to send the game to overtime, but the Lakehead Thunderwolves couldn’t match the firepower of the host McMaster Marauders.

The Marauders finished the game on a 5-1 run and knocked off the upset-minded Thunderwolves 82-76 on Friday night.

Lakehead twice took leads in the extra frame, Mor Menashe hitting a jumper and a pair of free throws.

But McMaster’s Rohan Boney gave the Marauders the lead for good with a pair of free throws and McMaster would make five more from the charity stripe the rest of the way to earn the win.

Dinkins, one of four Thunderwolves to hit double digits, led Lakehead with 18 points. Henry Tan contributed 17, with Darnell Curtin coming off the bench with 15.

Boney, who gave McMaster a 71-69 lead with seven seconds to play in regulation, led all scorers with 24.

The two teams will tangle again on Saturday night in Hamilton.
