The final rankings are in and Thunder Bay's Matt Murray is falling fast.
Slotted No. 2 among North American goaltenders at mid-season, the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds netminder plummeted 16 spots to 18th when the last set of 2012 rankings were released Monday, two months ahead of the NHL draft.
Murray, 17, had a 4.08 goals against average and an .876 save percentage in his sophomore season with the Greyhounds.
He's presently playing with Team Canada at the under-18 world championship in Brno, Czech Republic, where on Monday he stopped 29 shots to lead his team to a 5-4 overtime win over the host nation in pre-tournament play.
Canada opens the tournament Thursday against Denmark.
