Gino Sonego's Northern Ontario foursome is off to a strong start at the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship in Ottawa.

The Thunder Bay rink notched a pair of wins Monday on opening day at the week-long event, scoring five in the second end to trounce Nova Scotia 10-4.


Earlier in the day they edged Manitoba 6-4.

Northern Ontario sits in a three-way tie for top spot at the championship with Newfounland and Labrador and Quebec.

They're taking on defending title-holder Saskatchewan in Tuesday morning's Draw 3.
