Picking Tom Paine to be the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s most recent player of the week just made common sense.
Paine, a rookie 20-year-old with the expansion Duluth Clydesdales, scored the winning goal in both his team’s games last week, giving the club its first ever victories in the SIJHL.
Paine had two goals and an assist in Duluth’s 4-1 win on Friday against Dryden, and scored once the following night as the Clydesdales shut out Sioux Lookout 2-0.
With five points, Paine is tied for fourth spot in the SIJHL scoring parade.
