The Krista McCarville rink will live to see another day at the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The four-time champion skip pulled out an improbable win Friday night in Waterloo, Ont., scoring twice with the hammer in the 10th end and stole two more in the extra end against Coldwater's Sherry Middaught to win her way into the 3-4 Page Playoff at the provincial women’s curling championship. The 8-6 win earned a rematch with Middaugh, who downed Julie Hastings in a Saturday morning tiebreaker.

The playoff winner will take on Cathy Auld, who was humilated 9-0 Saturday in the 1-2 Page Playoff, in Sunday's semifinal.

Both Middaugh and McCarville finished with 5-4 records, as did Hastings.

McCarville and her teammates Ashley Miharija, Sara Lang and Kari Lavoie took the early lead in the second end, but Middaugh fought back with two in the third and never trailed again until the extra end.

Rachel Homan, who finished a perfect 9-0, and Cathy Auld, who wound up 6-3 after losing to Thunder Bay’s previously winless Marlo Dahl in Friday’s ninth and final draw, will play in the 1-2 Page Playoff. The winner will head straight to Sunday’s final, the loser gets a second chance in Sunday’s semifinal.
