MEDICINE HAT, Alta. – Liam Willmore doubled twice and drove in four to lead the Port Arthur Nationals to a third straight win at the Canadian Little League championship.
On top of his proficiency at the plate, the youngster also picked up the win, allowing just four hits in four innings of work on Saturday as the Thunder Bay team continued its strong run at the tournament, improving to 3-0 with a lopsided 12-1 win over the Lethbridge SWLL squad.
Catcher Nolan Height also doubled home a pair of runs, while Evan Lachimea continued his strong play with three hits in four trips to the plate, including his eighth RBI in three games, tied for tops at the championship, being contested in Medicine Hat, Alta.
The Nationals will face their toughest test yet on Sunday, when they take on White Rock, representing British Columbia.
Their opponent is the lone other undefeated team at the Canadians, sporting a 2-0 record. They defeated Nova Scotia’s Glace Bay Colonels 15-6 on Saturday. In other action, Mirabel Diamond Academy slammed the Medicine Hat All-Stars 18-3.
