Friday’s snow is making at least some local residents very happy.

Cross country skiers in the city are taking advantage of an extended ski season. Peter Crooks is the manager of the Kamview Nordic Centre, and he says this is first time since 1996 that they've had good skiing conditions at this time of year.

Crooks believes they have more snow than '96, which means there's 20 kilometres of trails open at Kamview.

Most ski areas in the country have already closed up for the year.  But Crooks' goal is to keep the trails open until May, something he's never done before.

Meanwhile, the Lappe Ski Centre received 10 more centimetres of snow on Sunday night.  Officials there are also hoping to be skiing until at least May 1.
