Senior Falcons edge Vikings in SSSAA basketball

Cody Gibson-Wilke had a dozen points and D.J. Quaresima had 11, pacing the top-ranked St. Ignatius Falcons to a narrow 53-51 win over the sixth-place Vikings.

At St. Patrick High School, Alex Templeman poured in 14 and Tim Baxter potted 13, leading the visiting Churchill Trojans to a 55-38 win over the host Saints.

At Westgate, Superior Collegiate retained its hold on third place, downing the Tigers 35-23.

In junior boys play, Haidar Hatoum had 13 points and the host St. Ignatius Falcons moved into a first-place tie with the Hammarskjold Vikings, downing their opponent 53-49.

At Chuchill, Jacob Luczak’s 19 helped the St. Patrick Saints pull above .500 with a 41-38 win over the Trojans, while at Westgate, Dan Duke’s 15-point effort led Superior Collegiate to a 35-24 win over the Tigers.

In boys curling, Hammarskjold and Superior Collegiate played to a 7-7 draw, while on the girls side Superior blanked La Verendrye 11-0 and St. Ignatius pasted Dennis Franklin Cromarty 13-0.

On the volleyball court, on the senior girls side it was Churchill Grey over St. Partick 2-1, St. Patrick over Churchill Maroon 3-0, St. Ignatius swept Hammarkskjold 3-0 and Westgate downed Superior 3-0.

In senior girls play it was Churchill over St. Patrick 2-1, La Verendrye over Dennis Franklin Cromarty 2-1 and Hammarskjold over St. Ignatius 2-1.
