Stars hold off Lakers

The Thunder Bay North Stars scored one more goal than the Fort Frances Lakers did in the first. The rest of the way it was even-Steven.
The Thunder Bay North Stars scored one more goal than the Fort Frances Lakers did in the first.

The rest of the way it was even-Steven.

That one extra tally proved to be the difference, as the Stars went on to win 5-4 at Fort William Gardens, tying the Lakers for second spot in the Superior International Junior Hockey League standings with their second straight win.

Both teams have identical 15-8-1 records.

Riley Marsh scored what proved to be the winner, his second of the night, at 5:23 of the third. Mitch Marostica, Kyle Breukelman and Mitch Galbraith were the other North Stars scorers. Tyler Stevenson, Jace Baldwin, Henry Gutierrez and Ryan Wildman, who pulled the Lakers to within a goal with 3:48 to go in the third, were the Fort Frances scorers.

In other SIJHL play on Wednesday, Wilson Housley, the son of former NHL great Phil Housley, and Andrew Anderson scored twice apiece to lead the first-place Wisconsin Wilderness (15-4-2) to a 6-1 home-ice victory over the Dryden Ice Dogs (15-12-0).
