Spencer Hogan scored twice late in the third period to erase a 2-1 Fort Frances lead, as the Fort William North Stars came from behind to score a 4-2 victory Friday night in Superior International Junior Hockey League play.

The win moved the Stars (5-1-0) into a first-place tie with Fort Frances (5-4-0).

Matt Valley and veteran Dan Usiski also scored for the Stars, who had to scramble to find transportation to Fort France on Friday, after what league officials said was a mechanical problem with the team bus.

SIJHL leading scorer Tyler Stevenson, with his 11th, and Byron Katapaytuk netted the Lakers goals, both of which came on the power play.

Jay Pelletier made 31 saves to earn the win, while Tyler Ampe made 22 saves in taking the loss.

In other SIJHL play Friday night, Austin Adduono scored twice and Keith Tessin had a goal and two assists as the Wisconsin Wilderness pummelled the visiting Dryden Ice Dogs (4-5-0) 6-1 on Friday night.

Bram Erickson, Andrew Anderson and Nathan also replied for Wisconsin (4-2-0), who took a 2-1 lead into the third.

Ryan Lobreau was the only Ice Dog who managed to beat Wisconsin goalie John McLean.
