THUNDER BAY -- A pair of rain delays have forced Team Canada to wait a few extra days to take on Nicaragua.
Officials with the World Softball Baseball Confederation announced they've postponed the match until Wednesday, at a time to be determined. The game was originally scheduled to be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday, but when the weather delayed the start of play on Saturday, organizers swapped the Canada game with the third game of the day between the top two seeds, the United States and Japan.
The reason for the switch was the quality of the lighting at Port Arthur Stadium, deemed not strong enough for television crews broadcasting the game around the world.
The decision was made when a second set of showers descended over Thunder Bay.
Korea and Chinese Taipei were scheduled to begin play at 9:30 a.m., but were pushed back two hours. Korea won the match 8-2.
