The Split Squad was at it again on Saturday night.

A night after downing the Brock Badgers, for the sixth straight weekend the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team failed to complete the sweep, falling 4-2 on the road to the Laurier Golden Hawks.

The loss knocked the Wolves out of a tie for top spot in the OUA West and instead into a tie for third with Western, who scored a come-from-behind 5-4 overtime win over Brock on Saturday and holds two games in hand on Lakehead (8-4-2).

Ryan Lopes started the puck rolling for the Hawks in the first, beating Alex Dupuis at 13:58 with Laurier down a man.

Thomas Frazee knotted the score 4:28 into the second, but the two teams were on even ice for less than three minutes, when Trent Hawke tallied on the power play. Matthew Provost extended the Laurier lead early in the third.

Luke Judson, with his team-leading ninth goal, closed the gap to one with 50 seconds to play in regulation, but nine seconds later Greg Cerilli punched the puck into the open net to secure the win for the Golden Hawks (5-5-2).
