The Westgate Tigers have lost their bid to bring the Northern Bowl back to Thunder Bay.
The Westgate Tigers have lost their bid to bring the Northern Bowl back to Thunder Bay.

The Tigers Mitch Legros recovered a fumble for a score early in the opening quarter of Wednesday’s provincial high school championship final at Rogers Centre in Toronto, but it was all the points Westgate could get, falling 17-7 to Sault Ste. Marie’s Superior Heights.

Quarterback Casey Wright tied the score on a one-yard scamper eight minutes into the second quarter. Three minutes later Wright tossed up a 70-yard TD throw to Iain Hutchinson to make it 13-7 at the half.

Kicker Matt Leask scored a single point  on a punt in the third and hit a 26-yard field goal in the fourth to put the game away.

Hunter Mina had 13 rushes for 90 yards, to go with five catches for 37 yards, leading the team in both categories.
