THUNDER BAY – A pair of Hammarskjold High School runners have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the NCAA level.
Hanna Johnston and Jordan MacIntosh on Thursday signed national letters of intent to compete at the Division 1 level.
Johnston will study health sciences, with a minor in business, at Providence College in Rhode Island, while MacIntosh plans to take architecture while running for the University of Minnesota.
“The entire Hammarskjold High School community is proud of Hanna and Jordan for their outstanding athletic accomplishments and wish them well in their post-secondary athletic pursuits,” said Hammarskjold principal Derek DiBlasio in a release.
“We are also very proud because they are extremely good students and exemplary school citizens who will go very far in life once they have finished their running careers.”
Both MacIntosh and Johnston trained with the Lakehead Running Club in addition to their school’s team. Johnston finished second in the senior girl’s race at last weekend’s Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations’ cross country championship, while MacIntosh finished fourth in the senior boys final.
