WBB: No. 3 McMaster rallies late to hold off Thunderwolves

THUNDER BAY – For three quarters the Lakehead Thunderwolves gave the No. 3 McMaster Marauders all they were worth.

It was the fourth quarter did them in.

The Wolves took a one-point lead into the final frame on the road on Friday night, but couldn’t hang on, the Marauders outscoring LU 17-11 to eke out a 63-58 triumph.

August Ricketts had a second straight strong performances for Lakehead, dropping 19 points on her opponent. Guard Rachel Webber also shone for the Wolves, hauling in 10 rebounds to go with six points and seven assists.

Guard Danielle Boiago was in all-star form for McMaster (1-0), scoring half her team’s points with a 31-point, 10-rebound effort.

The loss evened Lakehead’s record at 1-1.
