Wilderness take lead in SIJHL final

Fort Frances scored first, but it was the Minnesota Wilderness who took a 2-1 Bill Salonen Cup series lead on Wednesday night. Dan Davis scored the winning goal 13:45 into the second at the Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet, Minn.

Fort Frances scored first, but it was the Minnesota Wilderness who took a 2-1 Bill Salonen Cup series lead on Wednesday night.

Dan Davis scored the winning goal 13:45 into the second at the Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet, Minn., the second of four straight scored by the Wilderness in Game 3 of the best-of-seven Superior International Junior Hockey League final against the Fort Frances Lakers. Minnesota took the contest 4-1. 

Conrad Sampair, Jake Larson and Jordan Shockley also scored for Minnesota. Tyler Brodersen had the lone Lakers goal, tallying at 12:17 of the first.

Game 4 is scheduled for Friday in Fort Frances.
