Scott Morrison is sticking around for four more years.

The men’s basketball coach at Lakehead University extended his contract with the successful Thunderwolves program, a team he’s taken to nationals for three straight years.

Morrison’s deal adds managerial duties for the team to his list of responsibilities, the team announced Tuesday in a release.
"I am very happy to be signed on for another term as head coach of men's basketball at Lakehead University," says Morrison, who guided the Wolves to an OUA championship in 2011.

"The school's administration and department of athletics have been very supportive of both my development as a coach and the goals of our basketball program. I have always been appreciative of this excellent opportunity and will continue to make whatever efforts possible to help us one day realize our ultimate goal of a national championship." the Morell, P.E.I native said.

LU ahletics director Tom Warden said Morrison deserved the new deal.

"Scott's record of success speaks for itself. He has made Lakehead a national contender and continues to be one of the best recruiters in the country. From a management perspective, Scott offers valuable skills we can add to our front office at Lakehead Athletics."

Morrison said he doesn’t think his additional duties will conflict with the time needed to coach the team, adding he’s hopeful his experience will contribute positively to the entire Thunderwolves family.”

Morrison won’t have long to wait long to prove his worth.

The Thunderwolves also announced their 2012-13 schedule, which begins Aug. 22 and 23 when they host the University of Wisconsin-Stout for a pair of exhibition games at the Thunderdome.
