Wolves women win opener against Rams

If she produces at this level, expectations might have to be raised a little higher where the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball program is concerned.

The Thunder Bay native scored a career-high 26 points Friday night to lead the Wolves to a 63-52 season-opening win over the host Ryerson Rams.

Kelsey Bardsley had 15 for Lakehead, including three from downtown, in the victory. Ayse Kalkan helped out defensively with 12 rebounds, while rookie Jessica de Haan hauled in 10 in her OUA debut.

Kelsey Wright paced the Rams with 17.

Lakehead takes on the University of Toronto on Saturday and host Queen's next Friday at the Thunderdome.
