For 35 years, The Power Centre has been Thunder Bay’s trusted local source for brand-name electronics and appliances at the guaranteed best prices.

Since opening their doors in 1988, the retailer has helped tens of thousands of customers find the perfect solution to their home and commercial electronic needs with top quality products and expert advice.

Those decades of superior service have developed deep roots of customer loyalty and the business’ frequent presence at the top of customer satisfaction polls.

“Our clientele is very strong because they have either shopped here before or because they know people and family that have shopped here and have gotten the service they deserve,” general manager Dave Radford says.

“That’s why they’re coming through our doors. The Power Centre brand is key to us.”

Widely known for its home entertainment and appliance offerings, The Power Centre has also become a destination for summer grilling needs, carrying Weber and Napoleon barbecues and outdoor cooking products.

There is also a large home and commercial installation team which has been rapidly expanding all of their departments including their home automation, security, networking, & specialty AV teams.

And as the colder months loom closer and closer, The Power Centre’s auto installation department is gearing up for the car starter rush, expecting to install hundreds and hundreds as winter approaches.

In a rapidly changing electronics marketplace, Radford says it’s The Power Centre’s staff and their commitment to staying on top of the latest trends and technology that sets them apart.

The Power Centre enjoys strong support from manufacturers to help keep up on the cutting edge of product developments, he added.

“When making purchases, people aren’t trained in electronics and appliances like all of our staff are,” Radford says. “Our staff — each of them — literally have thousands and thousands of hours in training.”

That’s all a vital part of making sure the staff are helping customers make the right decisions, he said.

For the staff, Radford says they retain a very high percentage of their personnel and they become long-standing team members.

“We consider ourselves to be a family,” he says. “We were born and raised here in Thunder Bay. Our employees come on and stay on for years and years, making a career out of this business.”
