There are several outbreaks of COVID-19 in the district related to congregate living centres but the medical officer of health warns community spread still happening.

Decision to remove them was a decision made after discussions between the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and City of Thunder Bay, after reports that users weren't following rules set out under the Ontario lockdown measures.

Several temporary measures have been put in place at the Thunder Bay jail and correctional centre to help reduce the current number of active COVID-19 cases.

Six new cases are tied to ongoing outbreaks.

Fifty-one of the single-day record high cases are related to outbreaks at both the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre and the Thunder Bay District Jail.

Correctional officers have yet to be tested, but are expected to be tested on Friday, if not sooner.
