Letters to the Editor

LETTER: Downtown, not Innova right for event centre

To the editor: Anyone who knows about the economy, accounting and marketing would know that, for fiscal responsibility’s sake, the event centre’s best place is at the waterfront. I’ll tell you what I think.

LETTER: Yes to event centre and downtown location

To the editor:? As a candidate running in the Red River Ward, I thought I would weigh in on the whole idea of a plebiscite regarding the event centre.

EDITORIAL: Council decision doesn't mean public won't have an event-centre say

There will be those who think city council did them a grave injustice Monday night. Asked by Coun. Linda Rydholm to consider adding an event-centre ballot question to the Oct.

OPINION: Rise of the binge

Once upon a time a couch potato hooked up with a channel surfer and they produced a love child and that child’s name was binge watcher.

LETTER: Streets are frightening

To the editor: There is so much crime in Thunder Bay, it’s scary to even walk the streets. When I see a group of our so-called young people coming my way, I get scared. There’s no point in taking an evening walk; those days are gone.

EDITORIAL: Time for an election

The time has come to call a provincial election. There are just too many questions facing the Liberal government of Premier Kathleen Wynne – albeit much of them at the feet of her predecessor Dalton McGuinty.

LETTER: Council, do not deny us an event-centre vote

To the editor: I am so very disgusted by the level of ignorance being stated on numerous web forums with the subject of an event-centre plebiscite. In 1997 the people of Thunder Bay had a chance to vote for a new acute-care hospital.

LETTER: Plebiscite push needed

To the editor: For convenience we elect someone into office who we feel would best represent us. The present mayor ran on a platform that the proposed event center would go to plebiscite.

LETTER: Keep dogs leashed

To the editor: I agree that dogs should be leashed any time they are off of your personal property and that owners should be charged especially when they are purposely running the dog off leash.

OPINION: Democracy disrespect

This is an election year – Thunder Bay’s municipal election will be held on Oct. 17, a little more than six months from now and a provincial election may be called even sooner.
