On Tuesday a group sought to convince city councillors a plebiscite is the answer to decide whether or not to build an event centre. While we're not opposed to the idea of putting the question to the ballot, it's not the right time.

To the editor: Why do we need a plebiscite on the location and building of a new multiplex/event centre? “The proposal involves building a $50-60 million facility with about 5500 seats," it was reported in December 2009.

To the editor: I do wish celebrities would get the facts before shooting off their mouths. Fact No. 1: The spring bear hunt was cancelled by Mike Harris for political reasons. If it is restored it simply wipes out his mistake. Fact No.

To the editor: We are saved. Bob Barker has taken it upon himself to bear the Americans’ burden of saving the backward Canadians/Northern Ontarians from themselves.

Who can resist a new baby? Babies are born with a magical ability to capture the hearts and minds of everyone who sees them, even across the country and sometimes right around the world.

There’s nothing like a nation of 35 million collectively crawling out of bed on Sunday morning to watch a hockey game. And why not? Hockey is part of our fabric.
