THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has reported a new outbreak of COVID-19 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The outbreak is restricted to the hospital’s 5 North (Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitative Care) area, the health unit said in a statement issued Monday.

The health unit added it had initiated a thorough assessment of the situation and would take further measures as needed to manage the outbreak.

Another outbreak at the St. Joseph's Hospital had been declared over last week, one of two other outbreaks declared at the home earlier in September.

In addition to the hospital outbreak, the health unit was monitoring four other active COVID-19 outbreaks in vulnerable settings across the district as of Monday.

That included outbreaks at Hogarth Riverview Manor, Lakehead Manor, Southbridge Pinewood, and one other location not publicly disclosed.
