THUNDER BAY – It appears popular discount retailer Giant Tiger is looking to set up shop in Thunder Bay.

The company, founded in 1961, has posted an advertisement seeking store operators for Northern Ontario, specifically Thunder Bay, Sudbury, North Bay and Timmins.

A source told Dougall Media the company is eyeing the Winners location on Memorial Avenue. Winners and Home Sense earlier this year announced they would set up shop together at the Thunder Centre.

The job ad states they are looking for someone to manage a big box store, working toward a franchising opportunity.

Founded in 1961, Giant Tiger’s website says the company now has more than 200 locations in eight provinces, employing more than 7,000 people.
