A 14-year-old boy living in a trailer park near Fort Frances has been charged with attempted murder.

Officials with the Rainy River District OPP say officers responded to a call at the Lakeview Trailer Park regarding a missing youth just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

Shortly after 6 p.m. officers received a second call from family members of a teen boy, stating that the boy had a firearm in his possession.

Fort Frances OPP officers secured the trailer park, and the youth was located by officers at the home and taken into police custody just before 7 p.m.

An investigation determined that the boy may have discharged the firearm at a family member. There were no injuries reported as a result of that incident.

The teen has been arrested and charged with the following offences.

• Attempt murder while using a firearm
• Use of firearm while committing offence
• Possess weapon for dangerous purpose
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm

The teen will appear in Fort Frances court Friday to set a date for a bail hearing.
