Crash victim identified

Expanding dollars
Some local businesses looking to expand were given a hand by the province Wednesday. The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation gave three Thunder Bay businesses a total of $1.5 million for expansion plans that include new jobs and facilities.

Westfort garage fire being investigated as arson
Another fire in the Westfort area is under investigation. Arson is suspected in an early morning garage fire in the 500 block of East Empire Avenue. Fast work by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue firefighters contained the damage to that building.

Temperature rising
Summer is heating up in Thunder Bay. With mainly sunny skies, Environment Canada reported the city’s temperature rose above 30-degrees Celsius on Tuesday with a possible high of 35C. That’s the hottest it has been in the city since 2010.
