It was not the second-half start the Lakehead Thunderwolves were looking for. Yashar Farmanara scored twice on Friday night and added a pair of assists as the Western Mustangs (14-2-0) trounced their traditional hockey rivals 7-2 on home ice.

Krista McCarville is feeling a little under the weather, but it didn’t stop her and her teammates from running the table during round-robin play at the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

It was a tight one on Thursday in the battle for second place in high school boys basketball. Cody Gibson-Wilke scored 16 points to lead the St. Ignatius Falcons to a 60-52 overtime win over the Superior Collegiate Gryphons.

Eight isn’t quite enough for Krista McCarville, but it is good enough to clinch top spot at the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

It was really nothing more than a formality, but it was still nice to get it out of the way.

After the sixth draw Wednesday night, Krista McCarville remains undefeated at the 2010 Ontario Scotties. The McCarville rink slid their way to a 7-4 win over Sudbury’s Tracy Horgan in a game McCarville said was in her control.

It came down to the final rock, but Krista McCarville remains undefeated at the Ontario Scotties after a nail-biter against Mississauga’s Catherine Auld Tuesday.

She eventually walked away with the win, but Krista McCarville admits that the beginning of her first game of the 2010 Ontario Scotties was scary. After blanking the first end, her rink gave up two points in the second to Cochrane’s Krista Mayrand.
