Ontario’s 24 community colleges are asking the Ontario Public Services Employees Union to let faculty vote on a final contract offer.
The appeal from the province’s colleges, which includes Thunder Bay’s Confederation College, follows an OPSEU statement that indicates it would not take the offer it rejected to its estimated 9,000 teachers.
The offer was made to OPSEU after several days of negotiations.
A members of the college’s bargaining team told the Canadian Press that the offer includes a salary increase of just less than six per cent, which would raise the ceiling of a teacher’s salary to more than $102,000 by the fall of 2011.
