A multi-vehicle collision has led police to close Highway 11/17 between Kenora and Vermillion Bay. OPP on Thursday morning said icy conditions led to the collisions, which involved 14 tractor trailers. The incident occurred near Nelson Granite Road.

City police have confirmed the victim of a south side stabbing incident is in stable condition. Thunder Bay Police Service officials say a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back with a large hunting knife around 8:20 p.m.
