Giant Gymnastics is so impressed with their team’s progress this year, moving a significant amount of their gymnasts from the Xcel levels (Gold) to the Junior Olympic system.

Jace Voortman and Owen Trevisanutto scored two goals each to lead the local team to a win in their first appearance at the 2024 Ontario Winter Games.

Kam River led the Lakers 4-0 on the strength of a two-goal night from Ryan Daponte, when on-ice officials made the decision to stop the game because of holes in the Norwest Arena ice. The game will resume on Saturday.

Lakehead also announces the signing of Swedish forward Malte Hasselgren, who will join the team next season.

Too many miscues proved costly against one of the greatest curlers in Canadian history.

With just four teams in the tournament this weekend, the local all-stars will play for a medal one way or the other on Monday.

Lakehead climbed to within four late in the fourth quarter, but ultimately lost by 11 to Ontario Tech.

Game 3 of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at St. Ignatius.
