THUNDER BAY -- A familiar presence will be back on the sidelines at the Thunderdome for the upcoming basketball season.

THUNDER BAY -- Four new players have been confirmed for the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team. The first of the new recruits is Mozanga Ekwalanga, who last played for Red Deer College in Alberta.

THUNDER BAY -- Lakehead’s Jylisa Williams will get to test her skills against the best the OUA women’s basketball has to offer.

The comeback is complete and the Fort Frances Lakers are Superior International Junior Hockey League champions.

Ryan McDonald is the top local runner to cross the finish line at the Boston Marathon. McDonald completed the prestigious race in 2:58:01, the 1916th runner to finish the race.

Dustin Wilson is determined to create a new experience in Thunder Bay. Wilson is the general manager of Aerosports Parks, and is behind the Thunder Bay Sports Dome renovations that will turn the facility into the city's first trampoline park.

Since 2005, the PGA Tour has doubled its charitable donations, a total that’s reached $2 billion in 2014. The PGA Tour Canada and the Staal Foundation Open, the tour’s Thunder Bay stop, hope to carry on that legacy locally.

There will be local flavor on the Border Cats roster this summer. Outfielder Carter McEachern, in the midst of an outstanding sophomore season at San Antonio’s Trinity University, has agreed to return to the Cats after a 10-game stint in 2013.

Susan McDonald has unfinished business in Boston. A year ago she was mere minutes away from the finish line of the Boston Marathon when homemade bombs went off in Copley Square.

Brock Curtis is out as coach of Lakehead University’s wrestling team. The school announced Monday they’ve parted ways with Curtis, who served as coach of the team for the past five seasons.
