A steal of three in the fifth end by Sudbury’s Tracy Horgan proved to be the downfall for Thunder Bay’s Ashley Kallos rink in Draw 5 at the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

It got a little chippy at the end, but the Thunder Bay North Stars got the result they were looking for.

Ashley Kallos took on a veteran Ontario Scotties skip and emerged victorious.

For the second straight night, the Thunder Bay North Stars were able to eke out a victory to pick up two points on the road.

World class mushers and sled dogs are taking to the trails just south of the border.

Taylor Santorelli and the Thunder Bay North Stars skated into Dryden and started the New Year with a win. Santorelli netted the winner four minutes in the third as the North Stars returned from the Christmas break with a 3-2 win over the Ice Dogs.

They don’t get much tighter than this. But these are just the type of games the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey squad has to prove it can win.

While it might not be bigger, organizers of the second annual Gichigami Express Sled Dog Race say it's better.
