Letters to the Editor

OPINION: Backyard treasures

When I was a kid I would often hear stories about some old-timer in Westfort or an old lady in the East End who had buried money in tin cans in the backyard.

LETTER: Offload delays a problem

To the editor: There has been a lot of recent media coverage about the state of emergency services and concern about EMS response times. As a paramedic working in the Thunder Bay District, I can tell you first-hand there is no simple solution.

LETTER: Mural should be visible

To the editor: It is with great interest and pleasure that I and others read of the beautiful modern art being placed at our waterfront.

EDITORIAL: Power grid a good idea

Goldcorp and 21 First Nations have come to a landmark agreement that could bring hydro electricity to Ontario’s Far North.

OPINION: Water on tap

Tap water is getting a bad rap and it just doesn’t make sense. Here in Thunder Bay, nestled amid the pristine Boreal Forest in the heart of Superior by Nature, many local residents refuse to drink city water.

EDITORIAL: Film buffs get ready

The North of Superior Film Festival turns 20 this weekend. Thankfully, it’s still around, allowing the movie buffs among us to see, on the big screen, a wide variety of films that never made their way to Thunder?Bay.

LETTER: Katherine Dugmore will be missed

To the editor: I was saddened to hear of the passing of Katherine Dugmore.

OPINION: Tilda takes a nap

I know I am not alone when I say there’s nothing I enjoy more than a good nap. Whether in a rocking chair on the back porch, on the shore of my favourite lake or on the couch in front of the TV, I never pass up a napping opportunity.

LETTER: Writer-in-residence named

To the editor: The Northwestern Ontario Writers Workshop has selected its e-Writer in Residence for the spring of 2013.

LETTER: Clean-up help needed

To the editor:? The Local Citizens Committee of the Black Spruce Forest continues to look at ways to eliminate garbage from being deposited in the forest.
