Letters to the Editor

Editorial: MPP Mauro makes plea

The ball is in the province’s court. MPP Bill Mauro once again this week threw down the gauntlet, pleading with his Liberal cabinet colleagues to reconsider Horizon Wind Inc.

Gone, not deleteled

Around the world this year 1.7 million Facebook users will die. Fortunately for me, I won’t be one of them. I don’t use Facebook. Don’t be alarmed, cyber-geeks.

Letter: Deferral was the honourable move

To the editor: The article on tbnewswatch.com titled Tax shift pushed back has this council taking the honourable course of action, deferral.

Manufactured meat

I’ve been reading a lot of science magazines lately and I came across two different articles about two related cutting edge technologies. One story was about feeding the world’s billions and the other was from the world of medicine.

Letter: Celebrating small business

To the editor: This week, Canada celebrates Small Business Week, Oct. 16 to 22. As Minister for FedNor, let me take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate all of the hard-working entrepreneurs of Northern Ontario.

Editorial: Robberies worrisome

It’s getting downright dangerous out there for convenience store clerks. With five armed robberies in slightly more than a week, Thunder Bay streets seem to be rife with criminals in search of an easy cash fix these days.

Caging the bull

There is a 3,200-kilogram bronze statue of a charging bull located in the financial district of New York City, not far from the stock exchange building. It stands 11 feet tall, 16 feet long and was a gift to the city by sculptor Arturo Di Modica.

Letter: Been there, done that

To the editor: With reference to Coun.

Letter: Senseless act

To the editor: I want to report on a childish and vindictive attack on the Thunder Bay Horticultural Society’s shed behind the Oliver Road Community Centre. This shed has been on this property for the last six-plus years with no incidents.

Editorial: Status quo for Liberals

Last Thursday, voters in Ontario returned Liberal Dalton McGuinty to office, albeit on a much shorter leash. Locally, MPPs Bill Mauro and Michael Gravelle were re-elected, the latter with a little less sweating than the former.
