Letters to the Editor

LETTER: Overpass needs work

The recent announcement by the City of Thunder Bay that they were going to give the pedestrian overpass over Water Street “a bit of a facelift” prompted me to have a look at it over the weekend.

LETTER: Meals on Wheels a valued service

To the editor: I’d like to set the record straight regarding current reports surrounding the Meals on Wheels program in Thunder Bay. First, the program is not being shut down, and the City is not considering shutting it down.

OPINION: High hopes August will bring some heat

So I’m on the telephone with my friend Ian Robson. He says: “Welcome to Aug-tober! Did you enjoy July-tember?” It certainly has felt like September this past month.

OPINION: Cottage, camp or cabin?

It has been said that a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. For Canadians across the country this insight also applies to small dwellings in the countryside, often by a lake, where people spend their summer weekends.

LETTER: Survey accurate?

To the editor: There is some euphoria (and head scratching) surrounding the citizen satisfaction survey recently presented to council.

EDITORIAL: Keep heads held high

They may not be returning home with a championship trophy, but the Thunder Bay Chill does deserve praise. The Chill were playing for the top prize in the Premier Development League Sunday in Texas.

OPINION: Economic indicators

I have trouble relating to the financial gurus and self-made millionaires who offer investment advice to average Canadians over the airwaves.

LETTER: Learn to use digital media

To the editor:? North Light, a new media arts collective, is doing a series of Saturday workshops at the Mary J.L.

LETTER: Pave shoulder, please

To the editor: With the number of cyclists using the highways I cannot understand why the shoulders are not paved wider. When driving along the new portion of Highway 11/17, I noticed that the shoulders were still about one foot wide.

LETTER: Highway looks great

To the editor: I just returned home from checking out the new stretch of highway from Hodder Avenue east to Pass Lake. Wow, was I impressed.
