Police are on the lookout for a thief armed with a syringe. Just after 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning a Diamond Taxi driver reported being robbed at syringe-point by a woman, who is known to police, at the 1100-block area of Lincoln Street.

Fire destroys home on Oliver Road

A house on Oliver Road was destroyed by fire early Monday morning. Volunteer firefighters from Oliver Paipoonge rushed to the scene, but were unable to save the home. The fire started shortly after 5 a.m.

Smell of smoke is from Minnesota fire: Fire Rescue

Officials with the Thunder Bay Fire Rescue say they have received a number of phone calls regarding the smell of smoke in the area. The smell is coming from an 11,000-acre forest fire that is now burning near Ely, Minn.
